Feet tend to be the most neglected part of the body when it comes to a beauty regime, we put them into shoes for fashion and not comfort, we stand and walk on them and in winter they rarely see daylight, so isn't it time to give them some tender love and care with a relaxing and rejuvenating pedicure?
A lavish salon pedicure with a warm foamy soak and scrub can be very costly so we have compiled some tips to help you with some at-home pedicure treatments.
The first step is to remove any nail polish. An orange stick with cotton wool wrapped on the end, soaked in nail varnish remover, is useful for getting rid of hard-to-shift nail varnish at the sides and base of the nail.
Soak your feet for 10-15 minutes in warm water containing Epsom salt or foot soak.
Use a pumice stone or exfoliating scrub to gently remove dead skin from your soles and heels.
Dry your feet thoroughly.
Use large nail clippers to trim your toenails following the method of cutting straight and then filing round. This will ensure healthy toenail growth.
Apply cuticle lotion to the edge of the toenails and push back the cuticles with a cuticle pusher.
Rinse feet again and pat dry.
Paint toe nails. Make sure to apply at least two coats of nail polish and a top coat of clear nail polish to give more shine.
Give it enough time to dry.
Apply body lotion or oil to your feet. Massage your feet and the bottom of your legs as you apply it.
Try to avoid wearing shoes for a couple of hours in order to allow the colour to harden.
